Engaged by the South Brisbane District Cricket Club & Cricket Australia the new clubhouse & facilities is located adjacent to the existing clubhouse which is to be renovated & restored due to flood damage.

A premier club with large community participation, brief requirements for this flood proof project included outcomes across social, financial & environmental criteria. Accessibility & inclusion, activation during off-season, passive design elements, shade & comfort and flood management.

Responding to existing building and community infrastructure on the site, the proposed clubhouse has been positioned with a large north-eastern aspect overlooking the Norman Gray Oval. The rectangular building points towards the north and an expansive terrace wraps around the building and also allows for shade and viewing of the Jack Cooke Oval.

The ground plain whas been contoured to increase the finished floor of the change room & amenity level, this allows for a wrapping terrace, tiered seating and extensive planting. Through increasing the floor to floor the level one clubhouse & facilities are able to be positioned 1.2m above the previously recorded floor level.

Arches, rough render, red brick and vertical cladding all nod to the local architectural character and club identity. The forms and palette work together to forge a strong connection between club & community and provide moments of interest for players & spectators.

Construction to commence 2023.
